She's Not Ladylike

Mrs. K will know what song that lyric is from. :)

So, played poker with my fellow neighbors, Warsh, Yeti and NJ tonight and wanted to relay the following story. Warsh had the plan to ply yours truly with wine b/c my poker playing becomes much looser when filled with wine. But it backfired!!! Was knocked out first but bought back in and managed to take BOTH Warsh and Yeti down in ONE HAND!!! Ended up splitting the cash with NJ, but was super pissed that Yeti had the nerve to say, "Well, you just got lucky." Pardon my french, but I call bullshit! While I am the only girl in the poker game, do not discount how well I slow played those suckers to knock them out. I ROCK!!! 'nuff said!

Secondhand News

Alrighty, so it's been awhile. But for those who have not heard there are two pictures of me in the latest issue of ABC Soaps In Depth magazine, on newstands until next Friday. The picture of me and hottie from the previous post is from the same event where the pictures in the magazine were taken. It was a fan event in Dallas for Josh Duhon, the hottie who plays Logan, and Kin Shriner, the loveable scoundrel Scotty Baldwin. Sis was kind enough to attend with me and it was a great time. Kin lives down here in FLL when he's not working so we talked a lot about local places. He actually was asking me exactly where I live b/c he rides his Vespa through my neighborhood all the time. Plus he signed everything to me with, "See you in Fort Lauderdale!". Haven't started stalking him yet, though.

Here's a scan from the mag:

So, Josh and I will be seeing each other again in May in Orlando for a charity event where I'll be at his table.

In other news, DM finally dragged me out of my cocoon to hang out at Mark's with some friends for Valentine's Day and we had a blast. As I said in a comment to ETK, our theme for the night was "Fuck it, it's Valentine's Day!". We're going out this Friday to do it all over again. The lovely ladies and wine nights, we now have a new deal where we have to go out at least once a week.

Saw "In Bruges" on Friday, which was very good, with Neighbor Jeff. The previous weekend his girlfriend was in town and DM, NJ, NJ's Girl and myself went out for dinner and drinks after bowling and NJ and I were discussing how we'd never actually seen a Colin Farrell movie. He is very good in this one and it's pretty funny. Very much a dark comedy and NJ pointed out that of the main characters, two of them were also in the Harry Potter movies. Thought that was an interesting point.

That's all I have for now, but will report more later. Babysat for my baby Izzie this past weekend and have her birthday party and baptism coming up this weekend. So yet another busy weekend.

It's My Birthday and I Will Avoid Blogging If I Want To

Well, unless ETK is holding you hostage and making you blog while you wait for pizza. She is literally telling me how to properly blog, b/c apparently I am doing it wrong. Also, I highly recommend inviting her to visit b/c she will clean your place while you apologize for the mess. The only rule is you must supply vodka. Luckily for me I still had the same bottle from her visit last year.

Here is my list of things to blog about since I have not blogged in so long (BTW she is practically dictating this to me):

1. Christmas in Austin.

2. My visit to Dallas with Sister to see the hottie mentioned below. The save the dates will be soon to follow!

3. Key West with Sister and Lady W and all the crazy six toed cats.

4. The case of the broken wine glass. Dear readers, there was about a 15 minute intermission in this posting due to this event, ETK can't hold her liquor.

5. My obsession with ESPN commercials.

6. Finally, my attempt to resurrect the People in My Neighborhood series.

My captor is now allowing me to post and continuing with the drinking.

Peace out, hommies!

*edited by ETK, because, yes. she was doing it wrong.

Love Song For No One

Alright haven't posted in awhile and thought I should now since Sis and ETK have been having conversations in the comments on my last one. So here's a new idea I've come up with to try and post at least once a week. I've been shuffling through my ipod lately and thought I would do a music series. Seems appropriate since I use song titles and lyrics for my blog titles. The series will be about which songs I've been really into listening to on my ipod.

The first one I'll start with is Love Song For No One by John Mayer. Here's some of the lyrics:

Staying home alone on a Friday
Flat on the floor looking back
On old love
Or lack thereof
After all the crushes are faded
And all my wishful thinking was wrong
I'm jaded
I hate it

I'm tired of being alone
So hurry up and get here
So tired of being alone
So hurry up and get here
Get here

Searching all my days just to find you
I'm not sure who I'm looking for
I'll know it
When I see you
Until then, I'll hide in my bedroom
Staying up all night just to write
A love song for no one

I'm tired of being alone
So hurry up and get here
So tired of being alone
So hurry up and get here

Thought that this song was pretty approprate for me in the following ways:
1. From my past relationships, I think I am pretty jaded as mentioned in the first verse. And I think I do hate it. As many of you know I do tend to have a short attention span with relationships and I think my love of movies has me waiting for that big "lighting-bolt" which in reality most likely doesn't exist.
2. The part about "hurry up and get here" reminds me of the days when ETK and I would lay around in our pajamas all day in our apartment and order chinese food from the restaurant in our back yard. I would always say that Mr. Right would know where to find me and should just knock on the door so I wouldn't have to go out and find him.
3. The second verse also relates to the lighting-bolt moment. I've only had one relationship where I really felt those butterflies in my stomach the first time I saw someone but our timing was just never right. We were always able to pick up right where we left off but in the end, timing always screwed us up in one way or another.

So, that's the first in my music series. I've got some other stuff to post about as well that I'll work on. But this will get Sis and ETK off my back for a little bit, I hope.

Happy New Year to all!

Bigger Than My Body

So was playing around on itunes this weekend and downloaded some John Mayer stuff and I've been really into listening to Bigger Than My Body, one of his songs. I just really love the chorus, "Someday I'll fly, someday I'll soar. Someday I'll be so much more. 'Cause I'm bigger than my body gives me credit for." I just really like that. I think I've been feeling that lately, like I'm waiting for something big to happen to me.

Let's see, here's the recap of my weekend:
Saturday - Got a facial, which was awesome as always. I just love Robin, my facialst, she rocks. Went shopping with Diesel's Mom (to be know as DM now in posts). DM and her bf are going skiing and she's been trying to find ski pants and a jacket. She's never been before so I've been telling her how freaking cold it will be. They are going to Breckinridge in two weeks, when I was in college I went with a bunch of Delta-peeps including HGL to Breckinridge and it was around the same time they are going. I remember we froze our asses off! So we went to Sports Authority to try and find some cheap stuff for her. Her bf told her to get bibs, but she didn't want those. She found a pair of black ski pants on sale but also wanted to try some of the kids ski pants b/c they were cuter. Well, the kids pants fit her but they were low riders. When she tried on the black pants, she was joking that they were "mom" pants because they came up so high on her waist. I told her they were supposed to do that so she wouldn't get snow in her vagina. Well this set off a continual joke we couldn't stop laughing at. She joked about getting an '80s Jane Fonda leotard that would snap at the bottom to keep the snow out of her vagina. She went with the black pants by the way.
Sunday - Since DM and I didn't find her a jacket on Saturday we went to Sawgrass to Burlington b/c one of her clients said they had a bunch of ski stuff there. They had a ton of jackets but most were really expensive. She found a really cute white one that she said was incredibly warm for under $50. It had a hood with some fur on the edge that looked really cute when she was completely zipped up. Plus it had all these cute pockets inside for lipstick, keys, a cellphone, and a special pocket for an ipod. I managed to find some cute slippers, actually three pairs of cute slippers. I may have traded my linen addiction for slippers, I just love them. Since it was Sunday we also had bowling. In keeping with tradition, one of the gays said he would totally marry me if he were straight, so I got that going for me. DM and I were having fun, everytime someone did well we would do a two-person wave. After bowling we hit Total Wine, which rocks! Got some really great wine and we decided to try an Argentian Malbec that was really good with dinner. DM likes to cook so she makes dinner for me for taking care of her baby while she's at work on Saturdays. So the really fun part, after shopping we grabbed some lunch where we had the best mojitos! So at lunch we each had two mojitos, then at bowling we went through two pitchers of beer, then had a bottle of wine with dinner. It was a nice drunk Sunday.

Life Is NOT A Highway

Not with gas prices these high! If it is a highway, it's a ride in the carpool lane but alas I am single. I spent over $50 on a tank of gas last night, it's ridiculous! When I was in college you could fill your tank for $10. I remember the BP just outside of campus could get as low as $0.85/gallon. Oh, the good ole days. Of course as I type this I do realize that was over 10 years ago, christ I feel old.

So ETK is bloodthirsty for a new blog since she got back from the land of Dracula. My fear of her suddenly popping up at my door and not having a reflection in my mirror has caused me to think of the most mundane things to write about. But I guess that is my theme.

I've got some more ideas, but I'll get to them later tonight. Until then, peace out hommies!

Oops, here's my latest crush. I'll write more about him later also.

Just Want To Bang On A Drum All Day

Well, it's Friday and I'm so unmotivated to work. I have some stuff to do, but don't feel like doing it. Nothing to exciting to post about today, but ETK has been riding me to keep posting.
No big plans for the weekend. Have to go to the gym tomorrow, then planning on hanging out with Mrs. P and my baby Izzy P. I told Mr. & Mrs. P that I had decided Izzy was actually my baby and I was just letting them raise her. I had a baby shower for a friend at work on Wednesday and while I was buying a gift for her I also got a cute little outfit and a Santa hat for Izzy. When I got to the office I gave it to Mr. P to take home. So yesterday, Mrs. P calls me and says, "What are you doing buying my daughter more gifts when it's not a holiday?" Just can't help it, she's such a cutie pie! Plus she loves me, I'm her favorite person. She's told me so herself, even though she's only 9 months old and can't really talk, it's in her eyes. :)
Sunday of course is bowling. My neighbors and I are in a gay bowling league. Mostly men, there are only three women that bowl. And our team is the only all straight team but we have so much fun. Of course the music they play while we bowl if fabulous, so we all dance around and goof off. The crazy thing is I've had about five of the gay guys on the league tell me, "If I was straight, I would totally date you." I'm sorry, doesn't really help me here! So I tell them to find me some straight men.
Oh, I have been having the worst time waking up in the morning. I really thought the time change would help, but I'm going to bed at the same time, an hour later than before and waking up an hour later than before. Really sucks.
I guess that's enough randomness for today. Until later, peace out hommies!
